Activities
Painting and drawing
The children paint freely and choose their own colours. They are not
shown how to paint and at first may simply wish to cover the paper
with colour.
Water and sand
Children find this facinating and they need not get soaked in t
he process. Plastic aprons are provided. Play can be experimental
- learning what water does when it is poured, splashed or dripped.
Books
Books with stories and pictures they will understand and enjoy are available to the children for them to handle and for adults to read to them.
Music
We have opportunities to share in the enjoyment of singing, movement, reciting, rhymes and finger play.
Physical activity
We have many sit and ride toys, space hoppers, rockers etc. which we can use outdoors. We also have a climbing frame, slide and swings.
Craft
Cutting and gluing activities are messy, but they give the children the opportunity to experiment, to learn manipulation skills and discover shapes.
Home corner and imaginary play
Various props, farms, garages, dolls furniture and dressing up clothes give the children the opportunity to act out imaginary situations based on real life.
Constuction toys
These include Brio train, Duplo and Duplo tools to help develop manipualtion skills and basic mathematical concepts about shape and size.
