Fundraising - how YOU can help!

As a registered charity we are completely self-financing except for the local authority funding which is available for 3 and 4 year olds.

Throughout the year we organise various fund-raising events, which are both fun and a chance of getting involved in the community. We rely on the support of parents at these events to ensure the future of the playgroup.

OUR NEXT FUNDRAISING EVENT:
February Half Term - The Great Duck Hunt
Friday 10th - Friday 24th February
20 coloured rubber ducks will be hiding around Pangbourne's
Village centre. Children need to spot the ducks and complete
an answer sheet to enter. Collect an answer sheet from
Pangbourne Valley Playgroup, Pangbourne Primary School and
various shops in Pangbourne Village, including Collins Hardware
Store, Garlands, rwp Solicitors and Bon Appetit Bakery. Entries
£2 with prizes for the winners!

OUR RECENT FUNDRAISING SUCCESS:
On Friday 27th January the Fundraising Group raised almost £900 by organising a very successful, exciting and well supported Race Night at Pangbourne Working Men's Club. Local businesses supported the event by sponsoring races, donating raffle prizes, providing food and providing a venue. They included Hall Farm Equestrian Centre, Ascot Race Course, Reading Climbing Centre, Penta Hotel Reading, Pangbourne Working Men's Club, socialgreen, Glamper Camper, Patrick Williams Estate Agents, Stan Rod Motors, Posha Coffee Shop and Collins Hardware Store. Many thanks also to Keith and Sue from Goring and Streatley Golf Club for helping to organise and run the evening.
 
OTHER FUNDRAISING EVENTS PLANNED FOR 2012:
Easter Holidays - Fill a Box Challenge - Fill a box with different objects that are yellow!
Our children can ask friends and family to sponsor them a few pence for every object they can find and fit in a box. There will be prizes for the most objects in the box in each age group and for the best decorated box. The closing date for entries will be Friday 27th April. The Fundraising Group would be grateful if sponsor forms and money could be returned to Playgroup by that date too.
 
Saturday 9th June - Pangbourne Village Fete
Our Playgroup will have a number of stalls at the Pangbourne Village Fete. We hope to give the smaller members of our village community something to do and win...more information to follow.
 
Although our fundraising money continues to support our Garden Project, as a Playgroup we recognise that our children also need to be aware of other charities. For this reason will will be holding a Yellow Day for Marie Curie during the Spring Term. More information to follow...

Purchase our new T-Shirts, Sweatshirts & Bags
Back due to popular demand, we are now able to offer parents another chance to purchase our high quality T-shirts printed with the PVPG logo. In addition, we are also offering quality Sweatshirts with embroidered logo, and water resistant drawstring Shoe Bags with the PVPG logo. This great range comes in over 20 colours, is hardwearing and solves the problem of what to wear for playgroup.

Save money and support your playgroup with our Online Shop
We have launched an online shop to raise funds. Over 90 retailers involved pay us commission on everything you buy and it won't cost you an extra penny! You are charged the same price as going directly to the retailer's website, but if you access their websites from our online shop, they pay us commission. Retailers include M&S, John Lewis, Amazon, Early Learning Centre, Comet, Littlewoods, BT, NTL, Carphone Warehouse, Virgin Wines and many more. Shop from the comfort of your own home and save with online discounts.

Books for sale
There are three book clubs that visit playgroup. For every 10 books that we sell, we can claim a free book to the value of 10% of the total cost.

Jam Jar Lottery
One of our biggest fundraisers at the fetes has been our Jam Jar Lottery - a big hit with the kids! To help us fill the jars, please could you donate any small items that you may collect from cereal boxes or small toys - they just need to be small enough to fit into our jars.

Gazebo for hire
We have now purchased a gazebo, a very large ice box and a 6ft folding table which are all available for hire. The cost is £15 per item, with an £80 returnable deposit (in cheque form please). Or hire all three items together for £30 with a £150 deposit.

Gift Aid
Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, the charity you are supporting will receive an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further.
This means that £10 can be turned into £12.80 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing!
